On Monday, I wandered into a cookbook store on the Left Bank, where I was interviewed by a reporter for BBC radio. We talked about cookbook shopping, what makes a good cookbook, and cookbooks by the great chefs. (Are they worthwhile?) I don't know when or if the feature will air or if my plug for cookingmedia.com will make the final cuts. Please drop me an email if you hear the show. In The Food Network: Where the Kitchen Is Mostly a Men's Club she writes: Most of the prime-time male chefs on the Food Network have this edgy New York manner that borders on arrogance. This is all the more surprising given that 60 percent of the Food Network's viewers are women. Perhaps women like being talked down to. Then again, perhaps not. Maybe it is just the male chefs being themselves, along with a serious shortage of female chefs to change the model.Free, but requires registration.
