Shoba Narayan in the NYTimes identifies that sour taste women often get while watching Food TV. In The Food Network: Where the Kitchen Is Mostly a Men's Club she writes: Most of the prime-time male chefs on the Food Network have this edgy New York manner that borders on arrogance. This is all the more surprising given that 60 percent of the Food Network's viewers are women. Perhaps women like being talked down to. Then again, perhaps not. Maybe it is just the male chefs being themselves, along with a serious shortage of female chefs to change the model.Free, but requires registration.
